Stanley is the lead instructor of Staff Work Institute. During his time in the public service, Stanley worked with a range of senior officials, in the process preparing hundreds of speeches, papers and meeting minutes for the ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy secretaries and agency chiefs. He observed hundreds of presentations, and staffed dozens of overseas visits. Under a former chief of the air force, he co-wrote a monograph titled 'On Staff Work'. This monograph is used in public service courses to educate new staffers on the requirements of good staff work.

Today, Stanley provides training and consultancy services for organisations needing to improve staff work. He designs different types of programmes and conducts courses for public servants and private sector employees. He is also an associate trainer with the Civil Service College.
